How we got here?

Beba Innovation and Entrepreneurship Foundation was founded in 2018 by Prof. Ali Beba and Umran Beba with a mission to create passion, ignite enthusiasm and to prepare mindsets of the innovative youth and female entrepreneurs. The key pillars to achieve this were identified as implementing continuous educational and training activities, mentorship and outreach programs. Our goal is to assist innovative youth and aspiring women entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into applications, commercial products and/or services for global markets.


Beba Foundation builds on the extensive global experience of its Founders. A snippet of these are as follows:


HKUST 2013 One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition - Hong Kong


The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held the annual HKUST One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition with total awards amounting to HK$1 million to foster entrepreneurship. Prof Ali Beba, Chair of the Competition and Director of the Entrepreneurship Center said, "HKUST continues to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship with the HKUST One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition, which helps winning teams develop their innovative businesses. The Competition has achieved success year after year, and we are pleased to have witnessed the growth and international recognition of entrepreneurial activities in our region."

KAGIDER and Isik University Compass Project - Turkey



KAGIDER’s Compass Project, with the overall aim of increasing the number of women entrepreneurs and women employment, consists of an online platform with entrepreneurial trainings and modules aimed at reaching a wide variety of Turkish women. The platform “I am Establishing My Business” includes modules on information and data for new entrepreneurs, inspirational success stories and support for access to finance. KAGIDER’s partnership with Işık University in establishing this online portal provides the academic and practical support in carrying out and developing these trainings.

The 10,000 Woman Entrepreneurs Certificate Program - Turkey


Run by Özyegin University in collaboration with Goldman Sachs has produced its first graduates. The first 29 woman entrepreneurs received their certificates from Hüsnü Özyegin, the Chair of Özyegin University’s Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Ali Beba, the Academic Director of Özyegin University’s Center for Entrepreneurship.

Within the scope of the 10,000 Women project launched by Goldman Sachs in 2008, targeting to provide entrepreneurship training to 10.000 women around the world within 5 years, Özyegin University will deliver free of charge entrepreneurship training to 85 women this year and a total of 340 women over a period of three years. Implemented in 20 countries around the world with a budget of USD 100 million, the program aims to enhance women’s entrepreneurial and managerial skills in developing countries and support equitable and sustainable economic development by reducing gender inequality.

Entrepreneurship in Eastern and Western Mindsets Seminar - Kadir Has University, Turkey


Prof. Ali Beba of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology gave a spirited lecture on entrepreneurship. During the seminar entitled, “Entrepreneurship in Eastern and Western Mindsets” Beba narrated the steps of the entrepreneurial journey from evaluating an opportunity to launching as enterprise and talked about ways to boost entrepreneurial thinking. Beba gave lively examples that demonstrated the differences between Western and Eastern mind-sets in entrepreneurship.

American University of Sharjah Young Entrepreneurs First Business Plan Competition - UAE


Organized by the Office of Enrollment Management in collaboration with the AUS School of Business Administration, the event was open to students in grades 10-12 from all Sharakah partner schools. Although there were no restrictions on the topics for submission, contestants were encouraged to focus on technology and innovation-driven businesses such as nanotechnology, information technology, renewable energy, environment, healthcare, financial services, logistics and social enterprise, and transfer of knowledge.

"Being the role model of a third-generation university where innovation and entrepreneurship play a major role, AUS implements innovation and entrepreneurship programs in all of its disciplines," said Dr. Ali Beba, chair of the organizing committee. "We believe that programs such as this competition will help increase awareness of entrepreneurship in the UAE and provide educational support to convert innovative ideas into new products and services for the benefit of the society.

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) Entrepreneurship Forum - Saudi Arabia


Prof. Ali Beba gave a speech at the KFUPM Entrepreneurship Forum in 2013 on the "Role of Universities for Creating Entrepreneurial Ecosystems."
