I keep repeating this because it matters: when entrepreneurs give back to society, they serve a higher purpose. More than that, it is a moral responsibility every entrepreneur should embrace.
Entrepreneurial ventures can grow their businesses and make a meaningful impact — especially in times of crisis. These two goals are not opposites; in fact, they often reinforce each other.
There are many ways for entrepreneurs to give back, but nearly all effective programs rest on one simple framework: the 3T Rule.
Time
Talent
Treasure
If your financial resources are limited — or if time is your scarcest asset —you can still give by sharing your talent and experience. And let’s be honest: there is nothing more valuable than lived experience. You can’t really put a price tag on it.
Sometimes giving back is as simple as opening your personal library, your network, or your mind. As Maya Angelou so wisely said: “When you learn, teach. When you get, give.”
At the Beba Foundation, this philosophy guides everything we do. We invest tremendous time sharing our experience with hundreds of budding entrepreneurs. Our mentorship programs have gained global momentum, and our Greater Good Challenge competitions are increasingly sought after—both in the United States and internationally, most recently in Turkiye and Pakistan.
Large parts of my latest book —currently available in Turkish and titled “Starting Where You Fell Silent” (Sustuğun Yerden Başlamak) — are fully devoted to this very topic.
We hope our efforts can serve as a catalyst, inspiring more entrepreneurs to give back. Because the world needs more generosity, now more than ever. Our life motto sums it up simply in a three-stage cycle:
Learn. Earn. Return.
And then—do it all over again.
