Almost every day, I am asked the same question: What will happen to jobs in this rapidly changing age of AI?
My answer is usually this:
If you want a job—and, more importantly, a career—that is as “future-proof” as possible, look for opportunities that are friendly to the following Three Cs:
Complexity: The ability to work in intellectual environments that are constantly changing, often unpredictably, and rarely come with a ready-made instruction manual.
Context: The ability to understand cultural, social, and emotional differences that raw data alone cannot explain.
Compassion: The ability to care about, understand, and genuinely connect with other human beings.
AI may become incredibly good at processing information, but humans will continue to live in a world of complexity, context, and compassion.
Of course, the strongest “future job” profile comes from combining recognized expertise—such as a diploma, degree, or professional certificate—plus the practical ability to solve real-life problems.
And there is another powerful ingredient: knowing how to use AI tools to improve efficiency, creativity, and output—even in ways that are not found in textbooks.
Put these capabilities together and you develop what I call T-shaped expertise.
The vertical bar of the T represents your deep expertise—supported by education, credentials, knowledge, and professional credibility.
The horizontal bar represents your ability to communicate, collaborate, adapt, learn continuously, and apply your expertise across an increasingly complex intellectual and physical world.
That combination can make you extremely difficult to replace.
For younger generations, this T-shaped profile may become one of the most valuable assets for finding—or even creating—their own entrepreneurial opportunities.
The message is simple:
Don’t prepare yourself for a job that exists today. Prepare yourself to create value in a world that will look very different tomorrow.
Learn. Adapt. Use AI. Solve real problems. Understand people.
And, above all, keep your human side fully charged.
